Our story

At Black Edge Studio, our story is deeply rooted in the rich tradition of woodworking, a craft that has been passed down through generations. It all began with my father, David Graham, who ignited a passion for woodworking in a small shed, crafting hardwood dining tables and other bespoke projects as a hobby. His love for the craft only grew, leading him to upgrade his tools, machinery, and workshop, eventually milling and drying his own timber. This dedication to quality and craftsmanship was the foundation upon which "Mills End Gallery" was built in 2015, a part-time business that specialized in handmade furniture from locally sourced timber and provided woodworking services across south-western Australia.

I, having completed my trade in carpentry and joinery in 2017, was inspired by my father's passion and skill. I began working part-time in the workshop, honing my skills and contributing to the family's woodworking legacy. The journey from hobby to profession was a natural progression, fueled by a desire to create, innovate, and preserve the art of woodworking. In 2024, I took the leap to work full-time on my passion, launching Black Edge Studio.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At the core of our business is a simple yet powerful belief: furniture should be made to last—both in quality and in meaning. We don’t just create pieces for today; we craft heirlooms that are designed to stand the test of time, to be passed down from one generation to the next. Our passion for woodworking is rooted in the idea that every piece we make carries a legacy, not just of craftsmanship but also of the stories and memories it holds.

Black Edge Studio Creates custom, handcrafted furniture by blending expert carpentry skills with a passion for design.
